I didn't mind that one in terms of pacing and excitement. But it had its issues: a couple of large sermons about the nature of intelligence, the capabilities of the human brain and the existence of God and a little too much black and white rather than shades of grey when it came to morality. I've been collecting those when they are the Kindle Daily Deal. I have 7 of them so far and all were priced at $1.99 for a day.

I wouldn't take this as a recommendation to wait for Kindle Daily Deal though.

I have to agree with ya. I got some of the $1.99 ones, too, and it doesn't mean they will all go on the KDD. Their regular prices are $8-10, so $2.99 is still a good deal.

I've not read any in this series, but I've read others of hers and they weren't romance. Baen published her for a while and they were Fantasy genre in fairly unique settings.

Dun Lady's Jess was great. The heroine is a mare that changes into a woman -- and quite by accident. While there is a romantic element, it's a very mild subplot that occurs over two books. The heroine has to learn to be human first. And unlike soooo many other fantasy authors, Doranna Durgin knows her horses.

Ooh, and there is an Audible edition, and it's a Whispersynch title, so you can get the audiobook for $1.99 if you buy the Kindle edition. Hmmmm. Be right back.

Leviathan Wakes is one of the Kindle Daily Deals at Amazon, so it may well jump back up in price there tomorrow. As you can see if you look closely at the left edge of the cover image, many e-book editions of Leviathan Wakes also include the full text of The Dragon's Path, the first book in the Dagger and the Coin series by Daniel Abraham, one half of the writing team known as James S. A. Corey. I know from having purchased it when the book was discounted a while back that the Kindle version has The Dragon's Path included, and going by the samples, the B&N and Kobo versions do as well. The Sony edition has the right cover, but I don't know if they're selling that version.
