Exclamation Sony Connect Software Crash on Start -Update

I just can't seem to catch a break 2day sigh.

The sony connect library program crashes on start up now.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times no change.
I dubble click the program icon the hard disk led blips on and I get
this message "ebook library has stoped working"
this is with out the reader even pluged into the computer.
I have notified sony support and hopefully they will get back to me.

here is the error log anyone make any sense out of it ??

I fixed the issue by adding the program to the dep exclusion list.
(man I hate Vista)

Hi Jack, please try to use the compability mode for windows XP by clicking on the Ebook Library Icon and then click on the Compability tab at the top to select the Compability mode for windows XP.

My Sony eBook library worked fine for a week. Now when I open it my computer crashes! I have talked with customer service twice. We uninstalled it along with some folders, then reinstalled it. It works fine . . . once! Then it crashes again. I used a Reg repair program and the eBook library software worked again one time, but crashes my computer when I close it and try to start it again. I have Vista (unfortunately). Any suggestions?

If I remember correctly, you need to excluded the sony program from the Vista execution prevention list

Vista DEP exception

I was up until 1:00 last night trying to work on this myself. I finally gave up and went back to the store and exchanged it, I was hopeful that the unit was defective. It wasn't, here's what I did to fix (I use Vista, 64 bit, FYI)

1. Open the Start menu and right-click “Computer”
2. Choose “Properties” from the context menu.
3. Choose “Advanced system settings” from under “Tasks” in the left pane.
4. Approve the User Account Control query (You will have to be an administrator to do it).
5. Click the button “Settings” in the Performance section.
6. Click the tab on the right “Data Execution Prevention”
7. Choose either “Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select:”
8. Click "Add"
9. Go to Program Files (for 64 bit, it's Program Files (x86)) > Sony > Reader > Data > bin >eBook Library
10. Click "Open"
11. Click "Apply" and then "OK"

This seems to have solved my problems and I can start enjoying the reader!
# Click OK twice

Thanks so much for those instructions! I updated my Reader Library software today, and after that it started crashing on launch. Excluding it from data execution prevention did the trick.

Is that required for every Vista user? Seems like something Sony might want to fix...

I am having the same problem after update with 3.2 and haven't managed to fix it yet. adding it to the DEP list doesn't seem to help. starting through xp compability - neither.
