Going way back, it was a collection of Lovecraft stories on my Casio Pocket PC. My first E-Ink reader book was probably "Proven Guilty," Book 8 of Jim Butcher's Dresden Files.

I'm pretty sure it was a play by Goldoni (I think it was I rusteghi) on my best friend's computer (I didn't have my own at the time). My first dedicated reading device was the PRS-505, but I'm not sure what my first book was. It might have been "Wizard's First Rule", or Petronius' Satyricon. Or a Sookie Stackhouse novel.

It was an HP Jordana. Microsoft had just brought out Pocket PC. It included MS Reader and they included a free copy of Dune which I reread faithfully, enjoying every page-turn. eBooks were the only thing I used on that PDA.
About six months later MS released a complete re-write but the first gen Jordana didn't have enough memory to take the new OS and the new MS Reader with upgraded DRM. It stopped working as a book reader at that point. |

If we're talking ebooks in general, I think it was Dracula, on my browser.
On an actual ereader, it was Charles Stross' Glasshouse, on my K3. |

I have no real memory of what was my first ebook read. The device was a Tandy 1000 running MS-DOS and the book would have been in a library of books on a CD from World Library. This would have been about 20-21 years ago.

The Stainless Steel Rat Sings the Blues. I took it to work and printed it out on their laser printer. The first one I ever read on a screen was Autumn by David Moody, I used a Dell Axim.

First one I specifically remember reading (as opposed to a general awareness that Project Gutenberg existed, and clicking on a few things here & there) was Endangered by Johann Christoph Arnold, a free ebook recommended by a friend, on my PC.
I can't remember the first book/s I read on my Clié; I know I downloaded a small swarm from memoware, including Free Culture and Free As In Freedom and the Hacker Manifesto, and that soon after that I started buying from Fictionwise. |

If I recall correctly, it was "The Complete Enchanter" put out by Peanut Press on a Palm Pilot. Unfortunately, Peanut Press went belly up and Pratt and DeCamp's Enchanter series is no longer available as ebooks.

'Salems Lot on an original Kindle. Interesting how many "first" reads were a Stephen King book.
