Characters from books brought to life?

I am of the opinion that Mr. Nancy (from Gaiman's American Gods and Ananzi Boys) is living in New Orleans under the name Lionel Batiste. Doe anyone else know someone who really makes them think of a particular character from a book?

If you're including actors portraying characters from books in movies: Jim Carrey as Count Olaf in "Lemony Snicket's A Series Of Unfortunate Events." He looked as if he had walked off the pages of the book.

He really did. The makeup and wardrobe people did a good job but it wasn't just that. He knows how to use movements and body language. I think he even posed like some of the illustrations.
