Post Plucker and Gutenberg texts

If you're using Plucker / Sunrise Desktop to put html ebooks onto a handheld you should be interested in this.
The Gutenberg.org Project has thousands of ebooks available for free in many languages.
The problem is that they need to be converted into a format that works on a small screen before Sunrise can prepare them for transfer to Plucker. The text files have manual line breaks at the end of each line which have to be removed.
The solution is the eliterature converter which cuts out the line breaks and converts the books to html, ready for Sunrise Desktop.
Use the free converter at http://eliterature.blogspot.com
It is a Java program so you need to have Java on your computer for it to run.
You convert the downloaded books individually onto your computer as you need them and use Plucker or Sunrise Desktop (also Java) to put them on the handheld computer. Visit the eliterature blog for more details.
Gutenberg.org controls about 70,000 texts. The Gutenberg.org collection is available at no cost and you can free the texts up with the converter at the eliterature website for mobile use.

Much quicker to download in Plucker format from manybooks.net (which has the Gutenberg content) and forego any of the conversion steps.

Gutenberg texts

Thanks Dick Tracy for the detective work!
Manybooks.net has all the Gutenberg books in many formats. Unless you need a plain text version without line breaks, that is the right place to get these books. It should be advertised on the Gutenberg site.

Project Gutenberg offers the books in Plucker format also. They are generated on-the-fly.
