Image and Pixel size for Childrens Book in EPUB?

Hi Everyone,
My name is Brittany, and I am a new member on this site. I apologize if this info has already been discussed and I have not found it, but I really appreciate anyones response on this subject.
I am an artist, and I am working on my own Book at the moment which I am planning on having converted into EPUB format. This book is going to be kind of a fine art/ Young adult book, its hard to explain at the moment. It is going to be very image heavy. My questions is this--- does anyone know what the correct size for an image should be to stay on one page and not bleed over to the next? For example, " an image at 300 dpi that is 8 by 10 and 800 x 680 pixels", etc. I am currently starting to illustrate the book and am trying to figure out what size I should illustrate them. Ideally, I'd like to figure out the size for an image taking up a whole page, and a half page.

Whoo! Sorry if that was long winded everyone! I appreciate your comments!

Hi, Brittany. I'm trying to put images into my own book, so I feel your pain. I've been trying to keep the pictures no more than 5" square, since the smallest e-Readers are only 5" wide.

I have found -- if you're editing the epub in Sigil -- that it's a good idea to include a width="100%" or max-width="100%" attribute on your <img> tag. That keeps the picture from going over the screen's maximum size.
