iPad 2's WEAKEST LINK
The vast majority of iPad users claim that the iPad is THE best ereader, if only because you can use it to read at night (bedtime = ideal reading time!)
What, in your experience, is the iPad 2's biggest drawback, its weakest link? |

Tablets are invariably heavy. I could not use mine as long (not including the backlit LCD either) as my Sony PRS-650 ereader.

It's darned heavy and the fonts are noticeably pixelated. Personally prefer the iPhone/iPod Touch with retina display for nighttime reading. The latter two are also much easier to hold if you're in the habit of reading/sleeping on your side.

When retina display comes to iPad, it will be very suitable for reading. So screen resolution ranks second in drawbacks. The biggest drawback is delicate and brittle structure. Drop a book and pick it up. Drop iPad and never pick it up again.

Eye strain. After half an hour using my iPad my eyes feel like they're bleeding.

I know many iPad users enjoy using their iPads for reading as part of the other features it provides, but I don't see them loudly proclaiming its THE best for that function. In fact, a lot of iPad owners seem to also own dedicated eReaders. The new low priced Kindles will probably just continue that trend. |

If you use it as a tray, it can be slippery, and things can slide off it. That can be a problem!

This may sound silly, but to me the weakest link is the placement of the dock connector. It renders the standard dock useless for watching videos. And killed much of the appeal for the old keyboard dock.

It is hard to degrease the touch screen when the Brazilean cleaning ladies use lemon pledge on it.

I would have to go with weight.
Love my iPad 1 though, even though it certainly could use more RAM. |

Display. I think Apple is going to address this with ipad 3. It may not be the complete Retina display, but it will probably be much sharper. That will mean a big bump in ram, which will help in other ways.

If and when the iPad does receive a boost in resolution, it will most likely be 2048x1536. Since this allows for easy upscaling.
