text-to-speech feature in kindle

Hi All,

I am working on ebook conversion for people having problems with their vision. "Text-to-speech" feature in kindle does not read image description placed in alt tag. Can anyone advice on this?

What is there to advise? It doesn't do it - that's all there is to say. You could always edit the book and add a suitable caption to the image.

Thanks! What if the image has textual content over it e.g. chart and that information is too needed to convey to visually impaired people who are using screen reader? We cannot add this information as caption when image has already a caption.

My only suggestion would be to replace the image with a paragraph describing the image.

There's an accessibility plugin for Kindle 4 PC that works with screen readers such as JAWS. I don't know if that renders the alt tags accessible, but might be worth checking out.
