Lefevre, Edwin: Reminiscences Of A Stock Operator. V1. 15 January 2012
The Reminiscences Of A Stock Operator is a famous book on the history of stock market in the late 1890's thru 1922. It was published in March of 1923. It details the stock trading of Jesse Livermore, slightly fictionalized, one of the most famous and colorful professional stock traders. As Livermore stated in the book, "there is nothing new under the sun in this game of speculation". It's still useful and entertaining reading today.
Edwin Lefevre (1871-1943) was a journalist and writer, dealing mainly with Wall Street. Jesse Livermore (1877-1940) was a famous speculator of stocks and commodities from the late 1890's through the early 1930's This work is assumed to be in the Life+70 public domain OR the copyright holder has given specific permission for distribution. Thanks. It was your work to make the digital editions? What was your source? I am especially looking for the Reminiscences of a Stock Operator (A Marketplace Book) Edwin Lefèvre, William J. O'Neil 0723812696222 Amazon.com Books version.
I wonder if the original illustrations are in the public domain, too. |

I have been privately informed that it was a private scan from an early edition of the work.

This book is not public domain in the US. It is public domain in Life + 50 and Life + 70 countries. As far as illustrations go, I have been informed that there is only a cover.
This is a "poster child" book for the broken US copyright system. When it was published, copyright was 56 years. It should have gone into the US public domain in 1979. But because of extensions of existing work at the lobbying behest of Hollywood studios, it won't go PD in the US until 2019, assuming that Hollywood doesn't lobby to extend the copyright further. The Berne agreement doesn't apply to these works, because the US refuses to fully implement Berne, due to Hollywood lobbying. (Had it been published 3 months earlier, it would have been in the public domain in 1998. A year and 3 months earlier, and it would have been PD in the US since 1977...) |
