Considering previous attempts to bring eink readers to the corporate document management market started north of a thousand, Ricoh's pricing is pretty reasonable.
Their success or failure won't depend on the reader gadget itself, though, but on the back end server software. And that is going to be a tough nut to crack. |

If it has a good handwriting recognition software, it would be a dream come true for me... but at ~$500 way too expensive for me.

9.7" is too small to comfortably read standard PDFs.
I'd guess this is a "fail." |

There's a very short video here of scrolling through a pdf at lightning speed! True, a pdf will be a little compressed at this view (and I haven't seen anyone mention zoom capabilities) but I would think it would have to handle pdfs well (size-wise) since the whole point is to be able to fill out pdf forms and sign them on this thing.
