Text is light grey in landscape mode

At the bottom of the screen, the text is this really awful light grey. Is this normal or is my unit defective?

Note: this is in landscape mode.

I notice that on my unit as well. Looks like a bug in the firmware, since the same area looks fine in portrait mode.
