epub to mobi conversion using calibre - unable to recognise embedded fonts

Having trouble converting an .epub file made in Sigil to .mobi format for Kindle.

Fonts are embedded and .epub version displays correctly through iBooks.

@font-face definitions from .epub css file as follows:

I've attached a couple of screen shots of the conversion panel in calibre. Embed referenced fonts is selected and they are all .ttf or .otf format so I'm not sure what is wrong. I've converted files like this before and not encountered this problem.

Can anyone help?

We have successfully embedded fonts before for kindle using calibre to convert epub to mobi.

kovidgoyal, can you explain why converting to azw3 and not mobi will make a difference? I'd like to understand better.

The MOBI format does not support embedded fonts, the AZW3 format does.

You might be fooled into thinking a MOBI file contains embedded fonts, that can only happen if it is a combined mobi containing an azw3 part and an old MOBI part
