Reader Library and Visa gift card

A friend gave me one of those pre-paid Visa gift cards recently, and it occurred to me that a really good way to use it would be to buy more eBooks. It's not quite working out the way it's supposed to work though. More specifically, whenever I try to enter the card info to make a purchase it throws me an error about not being able to charge the card. (Yes, I checked that I typed the number right )

I just thought I'd see if anyone knows anything about using these cards with the Sony online store before emailing the company that makes the gift cards and ask them. I have a low opinion of customer service centers, on account of working in one.

I believe you need to register the Visa gift card online first and then you can make online purchases. Right now it's a card but not attached to a name. You can use them in stores without registering the card but not online. At least, that's the way it is where I work.

Also, check the fine print on the gift card. Ours is free for the first 6 months but then after that, they charge you a $1.50 fee. Bogus I agree but I always tell people before they buy it so they know.

Duh!

User error, if ever there was one. Thanks, it's working now, and I have my new books!
