paying for ebooks with paypal?
are there any websites that will allow me to buy ebooks and pay using paypal? I sometimes fill out those online surveys that pay a few dollars here and there. the money goes to my paypal and I was thinking instead of transferring it to my bank account I would love to use to buy ebooks using my paypal account.

Baen Books (www.webscription.net) allows it.

I don't know if there would be any e-books of interest to you there, but you could search eBay, as those sellers do accept PayPal. And you may want to check the web sites of individual publishers or authors if you have a specific book in mind.

I would say that you could buy your ebooks from me via paypal, but I've never gotten my paypal shopping cart for ebooks to work. So I just gave up on it. It's going to take a programmer far better than me to make it work. The only consolation I have right now is that all my dead tree books are purchasable through paypal.

I think O'Reilly takes PayPal, too. I'd go look, but every time I go there, bad things happen to my wallet.

For more sf/fantasy, Book View Café, Small Beer Press, and Mundania Press all take Paypal.
Both Small Beer and Mundania have most of their catalogues available via Fictionwise as well, and may be cheaper there with coupons (but also offer their own discounts on special occasions). Book View Café also has some of their stuff up at Smashwords, and sometimes participate in Smashwords sales. For romance, All Romance eBooks' FAQ says it takes Paypal. They've also got a more general stock store, Omnilit, but frankly most of their catalogue and sale deals are for romance books. One warning about paying via Paypal at Baen. If you want to gift your Webscription monthly bundle purchase (they let you send a coupon to someone else for a free copy), you'll have to pay via credit card. It has something to do with Baen being able to confirm that the money's really going to be there which apparently doesn't happen with Paypal purchases. Hope this helps. |

Kobo takes Paypal? In which jurisdiction -- certainly not in Canada. It's Visa or MasterCard only ... or gift cards.

Paypal is a mastercard. I used one to buy a couple of books, one was a gift card with paypal as backup, and the other one was just paypal. I'm in Canada

Hya, Jessica:
A business PayPal account ain't simple or cheap to open, and the big boys tend to resent the small charges and don't go for that option. We have a PayPal payment facility at the bookstore section of our own site (link below), though if you'd like to take a look. And -- just to piss off the PayPal ebook deniers -- please feel free to drop me a note of two or three titles that catch your eye and your preferred format and I'll send them as attachments to a return mail with our compliments. Cheers. Neil -- ntmarrATbewrite.net (use the @ sign, of course) Last edited by neilmarr; 01-15-2011 at 01:47 PM. Reason: to add email address |

Hi Neil
I do not know where you got your info about Paypal buiness accounts. I have a small business. My Paypal business account cost nothing to open. The only cost is when you make a sale. Gave a great day Gardenman |
