On topic, I think being an author is contraproductive to getting laid... Writing is a lonely task. I never wrote a real big thing, my thesis the largest so far. But you need to encapsulate yourself to get anything done... if you just do social contacts all day (and sometimes you just want, just to not have to sit infront of that screen anymore).. you wont get anywhere.
