Can the K3 access SMS on Google Voice

This would make it a cool, free, text messaging device with no contract, long battery life, and decent coverage.

Of course, it wouldn't have push...

Looks like it can. I just tried sending a SMS and it worked from an existing "conversation" and via the popup. You have to deal with the Kindle browser navigation though so its not quite as seamless as if there was a dedicated page for it.

Trying to play a voicemail doesn't work but you can still read the transcript.

That's fairly awesome. I know it might seem lame to most people, but my wife and I don't have cell phones. Of course, all of our friends DO have cell phones, and the best way to get in touch with them seems to be via text message.

In a way, this is free, unlimited text messaging for life. Not bad.

...or until Amazon decides to disable (or charge for) browsing non-Amazon/Wikipedia websites. Not to be pessimistic, but you may want to consider that chance into the "for life" aspect.
