I wonder if ACER sponsors the show. Best you buy one and test it out or go to the BB store and spend 2 hours with it and then decide if you want it or not. LG has one 3D twin HD camera on the back one in the front it comes with 3D Glasses smaller VIS though 8.7". Centered around T-Mobile though.

After more hands on with the A500, I've decided that for me, at least, it's a keeper. Although many people have reported GPS issues, I had no problem acquiring and holding lock on 12 of 12 birds. I can live with the external sd card bug until Acer issues a fix...

Took The Plunge Also...
and quite happy. I froze a few of the "bloatware" apps and use it mainly for a movie player (using MVideo), a fabulous ebook reader (Cool Reader on 2 pages landscape) and adequate for web surfing (only adequate because there are not really any good browsers for Android yet - Dolphin HD is probably the best now but it's just a front end for the Android browser.
Some points of worry for the future: On XDA there are a few people finding that the charging port/pin is wobbly - I had this on a Huawei tablet that I returned. It's probably because the moron designers solder these pins directly to the motherboard - well if it breaks then they will have to eat the cost of repair. Screen has extreme glare - need a good screen protector - have not seen one yet. Software somewhat buggy - that's due to Google, Acer's stuff is actually quite good. |

I love your shoutout to the awesome-sauce that is the HD2 HansTWN. I would hug my phone if that wouldn't be a weird thing since it far surpasses every other phone I've ever owned and it's Android experience is much better then my previous native-android phone(can you tell I'm still in the electronics-honeymoon period). I was using my old phone (recycled it to my little sister) last weekend and it's screen just seemed so small(3.x inch screen) and slow.
Still, the Iconia is a tempting device. I just need an excuse to buy a new toy when I really don't have time for all the ones I have right now. |

I've got this one. Nice snug fit and it travels in my backpack with no problems. Google "Built" and you'll see cases/sleeve for Ipads but they'll fit the Acer Iconia A500 |

I just picked up an excellent travel case from Office Depot, but I don't see it listed on their website so I don't know if it's either (a) brand new or (b) discontinued. Anyway, it's the Ativa Mobil-IT Ultimate Travel Essentials Netbook Caddy (what a mouthful of name)...
About the size of a portable DVD player case, it's very well padded and will hold your tablet plus power supply, cell phone, portable hdd, etc., etc., etc. |

I just got an iconia, it upgraded almost immediately and I do not have some of the issues mentionned here (pre-upgrade ?). Anyway, for 435€ I thought it was a really good deal. I had a xoom in the hands an did not like the feeling at all, I think the iconia may be heavier but I still favored it.
I have been using it almost 10h (9h and 48 min to be precise) before having to recharge it, so again I think the latest upgrade did improve it a lot. I know 3.1 will be delivered by acer in the next 2 weeks, but right now I am a happy camper. I can watch my avis, read my books (epub, mobi and pdf), listen to my mp3 and so on. I think the iconia is a good competitor indeed to the other tabs (xoom, transformer, galaxy), especially considering its price.... Last edited by aceflor; 06-09-2011 at 01:09 AM. |

Wow, this seems to be the latest thread on this device. I'm surprised especially since the price has lowered since then.
Anywho, I bought it and did all the updates with no problem. Set up the dolphin browser HD with bookmarks and have customized the a500 with the purposes of what I'd be doing with it. The only drawback so far is reading webpages. I'd like the text to stand out more on webpages and I'm currently in landscape mode. Dropping the brightness isn't enough, I'd like the text bolder sharper and more detailed if possible especially on links. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! And do any manufacturers give any thought to a contrast setting or isn't that applicable to a tablet? Last edited by robertc88; 01-14-2012 at 10:22 AM. |

I'm using the firefox mobile browser myself. Too many problems with dolphin and the built in one with flash. Not having any contrast issues or any other text issues you describe; looks like a normal netbook screen to me.
