Probably the easiest ones to find without WiFi are the Sony PRS-650s and PRS-350s. And they're still pretty good readers.

My 650 really does need a new battery. Also it's not good with hi-res images. It's either very slow or reboots.

My dad was able to find someone to replace the battery in his PRS-650. He's still using it. I think for just reading novels it's fine. I've mentioned buying him a new device but he's still rather attached to this one.

Batteries are widely available for these and relatively easy to replace. Four screws, a piece of trim and it doesn't even look like the battery is glued down.
