Downloading from Amazon Cloud
Hi All! I'm new here and I need some help I have a TON of books on my Amazon cloud (I do not have a Kindle--just the Kindle app on my computer and S4). Is there a way to put my books straight from my Cloud Library to Calibre? Or do I have to have it on a device or actually on my computer?

There's absolutely no problem with Windows 8. The issue arises with the Windows 8 Kindle App, but "Kindle for PC" (the older program) runs just fine under Windows 8.

As Harry said: uninstall Kindle for Win8, install Kindle for PC (Win7 and older), and you're golden. Standard process after that.

You don't even have to uninstall it - you can happily run the Windows 8 Metro App and "Kindle for PC" on the same machine. Keep the Metro App for reading, and install K4PC for transferring books with if you want.

You guys are awesome! But I'm still having issues. I got the Kindle for PC downloaded and can open and read my books but I can't drag them over to Calibre. When I start in Calibre and click "add books" I can't open the Kindle for PC. What am I doing wrong?

Kindle for PC (not the Win 8 app) stores the books in Documents/My Kindle Content. The book files will have an .azw extension. These are the files you want to add to Calibre.
Remember if the books have DRM they'll only be readable in the program/app/device you downloaded them for as they're encoded to each device/app. |
