It's not "regional"; that's the whole point. Cornish Pasty makers argued successfully that only pasties made in Cornwall can be called "Cornish Pasties", just as only sparkling wine from the Champagne region of France can be called "Champaign". Spotted dick has no particular locality associated with it.

Cream? You have strange tastes; it's much nicer with custard.

Maybe TGS meant clotted cream - it's almost like custard -- isn't it?
It's kind of hard to find here... |

Here's one method, http://www.cupcakeproject.com/2009/0...g-clotted.html but the one I used to watch involved gently heating the cream or creamy milk on top of the stove and repeatedly skimming off the cream as it started to set. |

Roll up for Protected Status Bingo (tm)!
What will be next? Kendall Mint Cake? Eccles Cakes? Yorkshire Pudding? Lancashire Hot-pot? Welsh rare-bit? Cumberland/lincoln sausage? Arbroath Smokey? Aberdeen Nips? Worcestershire Sauce? Red Leicester? Double Gloucester? Wensleydale? My guess is one of the Cheeses. As, apparently, nothing is bigger than cheeses. |

The rare breeds people have tried to get "Double Gloucester" reserved for cheese made only from milk of Gloucester Cattle.
