Anyone interested in this?

Let me know.

That is brilliant, looks fantastic - is there an easy way to install it?

Very cool. Two of my favorite calculators ever are the HP 15C and the HP28S -- I have an American Mathematics 100 year aniversary edition! They just don't make them like they used to, and I guess they don't make them RPN anymore at all.

That's pretty awesome, Illiad's usefulness has just improved ^_^

Another good question would be how you took that screencapture

Thank you.

The screen capture tool is in the projects download area here on Mobile Read. It's called fbshot. You can see more of it in action over in the idjvu thread.

At present you need 2.7 and the willingness to use the exploit.

Irex contacted me this morning and they are interested in exploring the possibility of mainstreaming it or making it an optional download via iDS.

So hang tight everyone.

Hmm it should be an optional download, because the user would get the ROM via http://developer.berlios.de/projects/x48/. I can imagine the face of iRex lawyers

Also note http://developer.berlios.de/forum/fo...forum_id=10186 that the way of uploading software into the calculator is sort of peculiar. It seems they use Kermit via some pseudoterminal device.

Refresh is much like the performance using the on screen keyboard of the iLiad.

X48 itself is an X 11 Saturn CPU emulator. It runs the actual ROM code from an HP 48 SX/GX so you get all the features of the selected calculator. You can even "plug in" expansion packs. You can learn more about it here: http://x48.berlios.de/.

The real trick on the iLiad is in figuring out where and how to insert the screen refresh code (as well as compile several needed libraries).

I'm also working on getting an HP11C, HP15C and HP16C up as well.

And again, thanks to Antartica for his tool chain (available here in the projects download section of Mobile Read). Couldn't have done it with out your hard work.

Thanks also to Design256 for his er_registry.txt hack to launch .sh scripts. That truly makes this a useful tool under 2.7.

The HP 48 series has built in serial and IR ports. Both are emulated. The Kermit interface was built into the HP 48 calculator so there is nothing "peculiar" about it.

There are also tools to build card files which you can then "insert".

Hmm, the licensing of the ROM files is indeed troubling. iRex could never distribute them using iDS. That is too bad...

Actually you would want the ROM files on a memory card.

After the iDS install you would then download the ROM image and place it on the memory card. The created HP memory cards would also be installed onto the memory card.

Not a problem.

Thats a really cool program scotty!

I dont mean to be a pain but could you/ would you be willing/able to do the same thing with Texas Intstrument's TI 83 or TI89 graphing calculators?

Its a really useful graphing calculator that most students in use it.
