Calibre won't load

I have an HP laptop with Windows 7. calibre ran fine until I loaded the new release today--the "wheel" spins a few seconds and disappears. No load of program. I tried again using the .exe command in Programs. Same result. Finally I Uninstalled and Re-installed--same result. The program shows as installed but won't load.

1. Have I lost all of my Genre, etc input by uninstalling?

2. How I can I get the program to load? I looked for forum answers first but couldn't relate any of them to my problem. I am not a programmer.

Very much appreciate any help. I can usually self-diagnose and fix this kind of problem but I am stumped.

Your Library is intact (unless you went and messed with it directly )

When you re-installed. Did you delete the previous (damaged?) download and get a fresh copy?

I didn't mess with the library files, so that sounds OK.

I did Uninstall the existing version, then reinstalled from Calibre site.

I have since Uninstalled again and tried an earlier version--same result--the program appears to install but won't load.

Thank you. The combination of using a different browser for download and disabling anitvirus/firewall finally solved it.

Calibre won't load

Today when I try to open Calibre it won't open--the wheel spins a few seconds and stops. Nothing has changed except that there was a large update from Windows that loaded when I booted up this morning.

I experienced this problem in June after installing a new Calibre release. I messed around with uninstalling and reinstalling per the instructions in the Calibre FAQs and it finally worked.

Here is the debug info--appreciate any help. Was this new Windows release troublesome for others?

I initially included the -g but the command didn't seem to work, so I thought it was a mistake. Leaving off the -g I got a response as pasted.

I was able to uninstall and reinstall Calibre so all is working again.
