Merry Christmas all!

Very late Christmas Eve for the adults means that this Christmas morning is off to a slow start (although the kids are having no problem getting into the spirit). Moving slow and waiting for everyone to get here before we can have breakfast and settle 'round the Christmas tree. Kids being held off with opening their stockings and the adults with strong coffee.

Enjoy the morning! We just finished a round of peanut butter waffles. LM is playing with toys and yawning. Hubby is playing with a new gadget. Christmas Carols are playing.

I think we must have been in the same house

. Kids were under strict instructions not to wake us before 9am, and were good to their word. Now we wait patiently for Christmas Dinner...

Santa left me a 12-pack assortment of ales & beers brewed in NC microbreweries! Microbreweries have become a real growth industry in NC - producing award winning beer, ale, and stout!

And now they're mine! ALL MINE! And now they're all in the frig!

I expecg to be fillllling reportz hear quiet freqntly .... *hic*

The laugh of the day, well, so far. LM comes out and walks past the 3-1 scooter, the new toy cars, and dragon castle mega blocks set. He ignores the stocking. What was the prize that he honed in on? The bag of squeaky balls for the dog.

He is napping. I am having a nice pu erh with Christmas cookies. The dogs are content. Hubby keeps playing with the silly expensive video camera that can be controlled by the iPad, used in water, and a ton ofother things.

A good day. I only wish everyone could enjoy such a day.

OK - Report #1: Aviator Hogwild IPA from Fuquay-Varina, NC
[yes - that's an actual city, not a joke name ... can YOU pronounce it?]

Whilst waiting (im)patiently for the Xmas dinner to cook, I snacked on cheese & crackers & Hogwild IPA (http://www.aviatorbrew.com/aviator-beers) - this was/is THE hoppiest beer I have ever drank!

Smooth, surprisingly light, and quite satisfying - with quite a kick! Kept me quiet all afternoon in my recliner watching videos.

Look for bell's hopslam. It sells out in a day and is released in January. Bell's is a Michigan microbrew that rocks. Hoppiest beer I have ever had.

Thanks for all the good suggestions, guys.
My wife came up with the idea of buying by the shot in a good bar. That way if I don't care for it, I haven't blown the rent money. Japan is well known for its excellent shot bars, but I don't know about Thailand. If I can, I'll line up 2-3 different ones, keeping within the classes, and see if there is one that I prefer. Then I'll match the two favorites and see how they differ. Should be interesting, and if not, at least intoxicating.

But that will be for later in the evening. Right now, it's an afternoon Assam tea that's pleasing me. Thank you, East India Company!
