Newby with a iliad companion software question
Hi everyone
I have had my Iliad 3 weeks and have been struggling to get it to work the way I think it is supposed to. I have been getting some help from mobipocket forum as I cannot transfer any ebooks to the iliad. The latest thing they said was to check the Iliad companion software. I have uninstalled and reinstalled this... The Transfer and Disconnect icons are pale grey and I cannot seem to activate them is this OK? also in Settings the Folder for working with recognised Iliads is B and I cannot change this. Shouldn't the folder be on the PC? Any suggestions? Many thanks Catherine |

The Companion Software helps you to backup your device.
Are you using the latest Mobipocket Version? Is your iLiad recognized as an external drive, when you connect it to the PC? |

And I tried all sorts of things in frustration including deleting the mobipocket folder from the Iliad drive... OOOPS I thought maybe I could download it again but i cannot seem to do this? I have Mobipocket 6 on my pc but it does not seem to recognize that the iliad is plugged in.... very frustrating. I have using a work PC running XP on a large network... Any ideas? thanks Catherine |

I have a similar problem.
I have just moved to a new laptop (everything worked fine before), installed iIiad companion software, changed the name of the pc in iLiad settings, but I can't get companion to recognize iLiad and back it up. The laptop recognizes iLiad as external drive and that works fine, but it's still annoying that I can't get companion to recognize it. Also, when I "safely remove" iLiad from laptop, iLiad still acts as if it is connected, so I have to either shut it down or unplug with the screen "Connected to PC" still active (though the laptop doesn't recognize it as connected anymore). I don't know what to do about it. |

I should probably add that a new laptop is running Vista (the old one was running XP). Do you think that this might be the problem?

I have exactly the same problem as you guys with the Iliad Companion Software.
I also run Windows Vista and I think this must be part of the problem. My laptop recognizes iLiad as external drive but the Iliad Companion Software does nothing. When the screen comes up asking me to name the Iliad Reader it will not accept anything I type apart from when I leave it blank. The Transfer and Disconnect icons are pale grey and stay that way throughout. I would really appreciate any help with this problem. D. |

You don't really need the companion software. It's easy enough to connect the iLiad to the PC via USB and just drag/drop files directly to it.

DomieGre, the iLiad companion software is designed for use for Windows XP and it also doesn't merge notes in a PDF.
You'll have to download the scribble merger program from iRex and install that on your PC. http://support.irexnet.com/index.php...id=23&nav=0,17 With this tool, you can merge your scribbles made on a PDF on the iLiad into a single PDF document on your PC. |
