[GUI Plugin] Overdrive Link - Page 21

Hi,

I think I have a problem with my settings for searching at Kindle Unlimited. These are my settings:

But it looks like it isn't searching at Kindle Unlimited, as it doesn't find some books I know they're there.

Forget it, John. I've already found the problem (Mobi files weren't checked).

Running from source, I now have a calibre change that turns the proceed dialog into a widget by Jobs.

It looks horrible, specifically the buttons which are way too small and have text overflowing. Also, you need more space to see the list of books that were updated.

You may want to keep an eye on where this thing is going. Just a heads-up.

So, it is no longer showing up as a bubble on the side, but a regular popup. I have to click Show Details every time, and it doesn't save the positioning anymore plus stuff. NVM that is just what happens when no usable results are returned. And Kovid must've seen this, because

On another note entirely, freading is now only searching for the last name... or first name now, it seems to be random??? And same with the title. After getting a seemingly duplicate list on every search, it eventually bombs out with:

I tried running from source and found the changes to the job completion dialog to be a big step backward in terms of usability for this particular plugin. Hopefully Kovid will make further improvements before releasing it. If not, I will suggest some changes.

About Freading, there were major changes at that site so I need to update the plugin to handle it properly. It will be unusable until then.

I agree, I kind of prefer the old way. Perhaps, worst comes to worst, the old code can be left in for plugins that specifically request it.

I would definitely like to be able to resize it (upwards at least) and for "Show details" to stick.

Version 1.21.0 - 22 Oct 2014

Support recent changes at Freading that were causing searches to fail.

Add compatibility with completion dialog changes expected in calibre 2.7. With that calibre version it will no longer be possible to change the size or position of the completion dialog. (calibre versions prior to 1.17 are no longer supported.)

Retry OverDrive sign in if URLError Name or service not known occurs during form submission.

Log when searching is skipped because a provider supports none of the configured book formats.

Eliminate logging of library card number during OverDrive sign in.

Wouldn't mind a sticky option to resize the widget top boundary, but at the moment it really isn't bad at all... (good thing I did the guinea pig thing

)

Incidentally, this also gets rid of the Case of the Incredible Moving Window.

Thanks again for the early warning. It turned out that the code I put into the plugin for backward compatibility with calibre versions before they had the ability to save the dialog geometry caused a problem with the upcoming changes, so I removed it.

Once the new dialog has been released and I have used it a while, I may offer a patch to Kovid to allow the popup to be made larger, perhaps controlled by a tweak.

It shouldn't be too difficult. I'll add support for Oyster in the next plugin release.
