Why scanning a folder device in my intranet

Hello everybody,

my calibre installation always scans the library which is located on a network drive as a folder device, takes normaly time by one hour.

The library was created and managed by calibre.

Can you help me to connect the lib directly.

thx

btw

my HD2 was not found as a device

You have set your NAS as a connect to folder device.
Not a good plan as Calibre always scans attached devices when attached.
CTF is intended for devices(usually have limited storage size) that can not be detected/connected properly by normal means.

Thanks for your answer

i forgot this is only an W7-PC not on Ubuntu 11.10.
In think this is an automatic option. If i use a new portable installation it is still always the same.

Anyone an idea?

As long as you have Connect to Folder (CTF) set to look at a network drive, Calibre will scan the entire drive, not just the folder.
Discontinue using Connect to Folder and only use Save to disk for remote drives/devices
