how to handle one book has multi-files ?

Hi, some of my ebooks are not consist of only 1 file but several files. for example, every chapter is a standalone pdf file.
I don't want to add each file as a book and make them in a series beacuse it adds too many items to the library. So I add the first chapter in calibre, and then move other files to the same directory. But calibre deletes those files after restart!
My question is, how to effectively organize this kind of books in calibre?
thanks.

You should just concatenate the PDf files into one large file

How do you actually do that? Using calibre or some other program? Need also to organize some of my PDF files.

Not with calibre, but with some other PDF manipulation software, for example pdftk or Acrobat Professional

In linux, you can use ghostscript. for example, the next command will merge ch1.pdf, ch2.pdf and ch3.pdf to out.pdf.

gs -q -dNOPAUSE -dBATCH -sDEVICE=pdfwrite -sOutputFile=out.pdf ch1.pdf ch2.pdf ch3.pdf
