Ipad shipping dimension and weight

Hi, I live in another country and would have to order it direct from US
if I can't wait for it to get in my country. I'd like to know how Apple
ships it to you. Do they put another box with foam that enclose it?
(hope someone can share a picture or point to url that does)
how big is the second box? Hope you can weigh the whole thing with
the box and measure the shipping dimensions because some freight
company charges dimensions or weight whichever is higher. Thanks.

Shipping weight is 1.4 kilograms, about 1.1 pounds. It is shipped in a box that fits the normal cardboard display box plus 2 end pieces (about 2"" in depth each) that hold the box containing the iPad. The iPad is in a thin plastic mold fitted exactly to it that also contains the USB charging cable and adapter (U.S. mains specs.)

1.4 kilograms is approx 3.1 lbs.

In the UPS receipt, it's written as 4 lbs right?

If one buys the ipad direct from any store in the US, does one also
need to pay for taxes or are taxes only incurred when ordering directly
from Apple Online? Anyone tried buying direct from apple store?
