WindowsError: [Error 6] The handle is invalid

When I attempt to open a .pdf file in the ebook viewer I get the error message above. The log says:

Traceback (most recent call last):

WindowsError: [Error 6] The handle is invalid

Anyone know how to fix this?

Can you convert PDF books?

Yes. Tried conversion to .txt and .epub and both came out fine.

Odd, one more thing to try if you start the ebook viewer by itself (from the start menu) does it work?

No, that's exactly where the problem occurs.

If invoked from the management window, the viewer comes up and displays the file just fine. Trying to open the same file directly from the viewer pops up the error.

When you say directly from the viewer, the viewer was launched previously from the management window of from the start menu?

Viewer launched from the start menu. Management window not running.

Ah OK, this will be fixed in a couple of weeks when calibre switches to the new PDF conversion engine.
