1. Yes, after uninstalling q & s I am able to get a working TOC in my MOBI file (converted from my doc.x file). 2. I am an 'add / remove' programs kind of a guy. Detailed instructions make my nose bleed (but I will follow if you lead). 3. The real questions is, when I upload the MOBI to Amazon, will Amazon accept the file as correct and with a TOC to their specs?

If you can reliably get conversion to glitch depending on whether Q&S is installed, then it is a bug in the plugin.

Each plugin has a thread dedicated to it specifically. Now it is confirmed that the plugin is causing the issue, posting directly as a response to the plugin thread can alert the developer.
It is also possible the plugin author will see this thread, but it is better to make sure. |

QuarantineAndScrub uses non-standard Calibre tables, and does NOT touch formats or conversion rules at all. It only updates its own Work Data.
The official Q&S library delivered has zero of your previous customizations. Its purpose is to clean you metadata, not to replace your standard Calibre library. Your regular Calibre library cannot be used with Q&S, so anything special you created in standard Calibre will not exist in Q&S. You have misdiagnosed the cause of your problems. Q&S User Guide: 52 Pages for a Reason
Apparently you did not actually install Q&S the add-on, only Q&S the plug-in. Both are required.
The User Guide to Q&S is 52 pages long. If your nose bleeds when following instructions, you are among the 99.9% of Calibre users who should not install Q&S. DaltonST |

IIUC the plugin should only activate when the library name is the name of the special library you distribute.
If it is having an effect in the regular library, that is a bug. |

Of course it only activates in its proper Q&S library. The menu icon is non-responsive until the current library is validated as a Q&S library. However, even if it did activate, it would not do anything, since it does nothing until a job is started, and the jobs would all fail due to SQLite operational errors due to missing tables and views.
The user admitted to being incapable of following instructions, so what he did and how he did it is unknowable. He might have taken a Q&S metadata_db_prefs_backup.json file (which is highly specific to Q&S) and copied it into his standard Calibre library folder. That for sure would break some functionality that he previously had. Did he do that? Who knows? Whatever he did that he should not have done, or did not do what he should have done, he did not follow the detailed instructions; the outcome is clear. DaltonST |

@DaltonST After I installed quarantine and scrub (15 January 2015) my Tables Of Contents worked in my doc.x files but not at all in my MOBI files. In the MOBI versions, clicking on a TOC hyperlink took me to the first page of my document. Clicking on a TOC hyperlink did not take me to a chapter heading. I'm not knowing HTML well enough to know why. Don't forget Kovid Goyal states in his manual, you can convert doc.x to MOBI and retain a working hyperlinked TOC. Anyway, after I un-installed Quarantine and Scrub the problem went away.

@Knuckles McGinty,
What version of Calibre are you using? How did you install Q&S? What did you name the Calibre library that Q&S uses? How did you get your ebooks into the Q&S library on January 15th? How did you uninstall Q&S? What did you do with the ebooks that were in its library? Where are they now? DaltonST Last edited by DaltonST; 01-25-2015 at 02:58 PM. |

Version 3.6.6 -26 January 2015 New Database Version 4.3.0
Version 3.6.6 -26 January 2015 New Database Version 4.3.0
Please run the "After Version Upgrade" job near the top of the main Q&S menu to update your Q&S library metadata.dbs to the latest version. This version makes changes to a SQLite view used in the "Propagating Work Tags from/to All Books With Identical Work Series" job. DaltonST |

Version 3.6.7 New "Tag Capitalization Rules" User Maintained Table
Version 3.6.7 New "Tag Capitalization Rules" table, which is user maintained; Revised User Guide; New DB Version 4.4.0.
Please refer to Page 53 of the User Guide for details. Also, you must run the "After Version Upgrade" job near the top of the Q&S main menu; otherwise, your jobs will fail because the new table, _tag_capitalization_rules, will not exist (yet) when they try to use it. You own this table once it has been created, and the seed entries (shown in the User Guide on Page 53 and in the attached image) have been created. If you use BISAC-like Tags, you will instantly grasp the utility of these seed entries. Example: “Factual:History:War&Military-World War II-North Africa-Libya” would typically become “Factual:history:war&military-world war II-north africa-libya” if it were not for this functionality, although the _tag_rules table might get lucky first. The priorities in this table work identically to the priorities in all of the other Q&S tables that use priorities. The "Book Level Scrubbing", "Work Tag Scrubbing" and "Work Tag Minimization" functions use this table now. DaltonST |

Version 3.6.8 New "Tag String Replacement Rules" Table: User Maintained
Version 3.6.8 New "Tag String Replacement Rules" table, which is user maintained; Revised User Guide; New DB Version 4.5.0.
Refer to Page 54 of the User Guide for more information. Please submit the "After Version Upgrade" job near the top of the Q&S main menu so the new table and a new view may be created prior to use. Para los hispanohablantes, esta nueva función hace que sea fácil de corregir la ortografía de las etiquetas. Für Deutschsprachige, macht diese neue Funktion es einfach, die Rechtschreibung der Stichworte zu korrigieren. DaltonST |
