Windows 10 and Kobo devices
Hi,
I have a problem: after I upgraded my laptop to Windows 10 my Kobo devices don't show up in Windows explorer (also my android ereader Boyue has the same problem). I checked that the usb connection works because Windows recognices my usb memory stick. What should I do? Is there somethere a Windows 10 usb driver for Kobo devices I could install? |

I'd try uninstalling the Kobo driver and letting it reinstall. I just tried my H2O, Aura HD and Touch and they all connected no problem.

Also try looking at https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=257562 and see what type of USB drivers and features are enabled.

This was an issue on one laptop we upgraded to Windows 10 during testing and several drivers either didn't upgrade or were left in an unknown condition. |

Hi,
thanks for the advice. The problem is that there are no traces of Kobo driver in my system. I did a clean install of Windows 10 and every time I connect my Kobo H20 to laptop it says "Computer detected. Would you like to connect..." and after pressing the Connect-button it says "Connected and charging" but nothing shows in my laptop, not in device manager (with show hidden devices option on) or in USBDeview. Well... http://www.mv.helsinki.fi/home/tkuvaja/usbdeview.jpg |

Well, I'm sure I didn't do anything but now my Kobo shows in Windows explorer. Problem solved. I don't understand what happened but the most important thing is that it works

Thanks for coming back and letting us know (and glad it's working)! W10 seems to need a couple restarts to get things settled down and working properly. Not sure if this is reality or perception, but after upgrade seems to be done it seems like it's still working away in the background getting everything finished.

I have the same problem...
I have the same problem with a notebook Dell XPS 15 with Windows 10.
When I connect my Kobo Aura H2O to any Usb port nothing happens. I tried to connect to another notebook with Windows 7 and everything works well. Should I wait for the same miracle of Tlib? Maybe my Windows 10 will recognize the Kobo Aura H2O sooner or later? |

Incredible: the miracle happened!
Just a few minutes after I posted about my problem, Kobo Aura H2O was finally recognized by Windows 10. I just restarted both Kobo and Notebook.

This might or might not be related to the difficulty described here, but I've had mysterious standard usb devices not working on windows before where the problem was unresponsive Windows update server.
That doesn't make much sense, but when Windows detects a new device, (or an old device in a different port.) by default, it tries to check against Windows update database for a new Driver. Most of the time, this is transaparently quick, and as the device is standard, nothing needs to be downloaded, and Windows just adds the device. I have seen cases where this check gets stuck, and even rebooting the computer doesn't necessarily 'unstick it.'. Windows will just refuse to finish adding the device until the process completes. |

I had the same problem. New PC, windows 10, does not see my Gobo Glo, which is perfectly seen on another PC, Windows 7.
Restarted the Windows 10 machine, Kobo connected. Then restarted the Kobo, tadaaa...., connected. |

Windows 10 mettered connections
Hi regarding this problem, I realized that I had set up my wi-fi network as mettered. It is possible that for some of you that worked "magically" is because you connected the reader somewhere else than home and windows got to download the necessary drivers for it show in your file explorer. Afterwards it was probably ok since the correct installation took place.
Make sure your connection is NOT mettered in the advance properties for each SSID name. Once you remove this setting, it will install ok. I have to set my connection mettered because I have a limited amount of traffic at home and I don't windows downloading all the updates at home but anywhere else. But I realized that this will affect installing new hardware as well. Hope this helps. |
