Kindle Touch -- No Web Browsing on 3G

It appears that you will have to use wifi to get to the web on a 3G Kindle Touch. The 3G will be for books and wikipedia only.

I debated posting this in the Kindle section, but it seems to me that it has broader implications in regard to the cost of 3G as eink platforms get faster and eventually color.

i think it's newsworthy enough and nice to get its own thread in the News Forum (althoguh mods may disagree). It definitely affects my decision as a buyer. I'm not going to pay $50 for such limited 3G, and this pushes me into reconsidering a Sony T1 or a Nook STR. I like having physical page turn buttons, and I love that my Sony 505 is still going strong and showing little signs of wear after three years of HEAVY use.

Very smart move by Amazon, actually. It helps set expectations for future products such as a 3G Fire/ other tablets, which will probably have to have a charge for a monthly 3G data plan (to handle video streaming, etc.)
