Hi, finally
I've lurked here for a while, mainly in the Sony Reader and calibre sections. I'm very thankful for all of the very helpful tips and advice/reviews people have posted. I decided it was time to pass on my Sony Reader PRS-505, which I have had since it was released, to my brother and get a Kindle 3. I guess getting a new device is what got me excited enough to finally introduce myself.. Oh, let's see, I'm Roberto and I'm from Houston, Texas but now living in a small town a bit south of Houston. I like mainly Horror and Sci-Fi/Fantasy books, but I try to read books from every genres. Post Apocalyptic themed books are my favorite, and if zombies are thrown in, I'm there, dude. Anyway, I hope to contribute more in the future and thanks to everyone else that has made this the go-to board for everything mobile reading.

Welcome, Roberto...
Better late than never... as I said to my gym teacher in year 8, when I was late, due to a boyfriend... Yeah, she wasn't impressed.. |

Welcome, Roberto, I'm very new myself. I ordered a Kindle but haven't received it yet. I resisted getting an ereader as I have about 200 unread print books staring at me every day. I don't have time to get through them. But everyone I know who has a Kindle loves it, so I broke down and ordered one. Glad to have you here.

Hi Roberto, welcome to MR!
What would say are top 5 or 10 books for someone new to the post-apocalyptic (wow, that's hard to spell) genre? |

The Stand by Stephen King The Passage by Justin Cronin I Am Legend by Richard Matheson World War Z by Max Brooks Earth Abides by George R. Stewart Swan Song by Robert McCammon The Road by Cormac McCarthy There are others that I can't recall right now, but those stuck with me. I am also a fan of "The Walking Dead", which is an epic comic book series dealing with zombies, but it has a lot of depth and character development. Thanks for the welcome! Still waiting on my Kindle 3, but having to "suffer" through reading with the Sony Reader PRS-505 has been a pleasure for a few years now, so I guess I can finish a few more books while I wait. |

Okay, thanks for the suggestions. I finished a book last night, so I'm trawling for my next read.
