Installing software on an Amazon Kindle 3

Is there any way to install your own software on to a Kindle? I want to be able to install software so that i can remotely connect to the Kindle from another pc. A Linux version of logmein/gotomypc.

Thanks.

Edit. Looks like i have found most of what i want here.
