Sony ebooks on Calibre
I am a newbie but would like to use Calibre instead of the elibrary from Sony (I have a Sony PRS505).

Can I buy books from Sony at their estore and have it go into the Calibre library?

Yes you can but I think that you are still going to need the Sony software to purchase the books though.

But you can't do any modifications in Calibre with Sony books, I just asked that question on another thread. They put drm on the books. Calibre will only work with non-drm books.

You can add tags, change metadata & copy DRM'd books to the Reader, you just can't convert them to other formats/font-sizes.

After you buy the book using the Sony software. Find the book on your machine, drag the book to your calibre software and you will be able use Calibre from that point on to manage your book.

Calibre will let you modify the metadata, tags, collections, comments, ratings, cover etc... It will use the Sony software to read the books on the computer and transfer the books fine to the reader.

Because of the DRM you won't be able to change the file to other formats or change the font size.
