Congrats on your new arrival. I'm not surprised your daughter wants one herself, biggest risk one has when buying their pocket pro is a family member wanting to have it for themselves. |

No need anymore to fully drain battery!
Quote:
The old way of batteries was to charge full and drain full three times initially. This is not needed anymore. You do need to "teach" the battery charge life meter what "fully charged" is with your battery... hense charge for 8-12 hours initially. I would not suggest draining fully at all. Even the Pocket PRO starts hanging up and freezing and being sluggish when it has too little power. I recommend recharging when the battery charge life meter gets a bit below half. I did not read this... I learned the hard way on a trip on a plane the first time I had the Pocket PRO. I immediately thought: "OH, my God, it has a glitch". There was no glitch... it just started thirsting for power. I do NOT want people to ever experience that. So... a bar or so below half and I recharge. Realize that the battery charge life gauge is not very exact anyway. It is a good guide and not meant to be exact. Likely when it shows 1/2 charge it is closer to 1/4 charge (this is my humble opinion). You do want to ensure you have the latest firmware upgrade once it is fully charged. That firmware upgrade will give you much longer battery charge life and a visable clock and many other neat features. You will always find the Firmware Upgrades on: www.theEZreader.com/html. Instructions are on there also. Thank you. Shadowboxer, and welcome to our merry little band of Astak lovers!! |

I want you to know that your support here was one of the most significant factors in me choosing Astak over the Sony and the Kindle. I look forward to seeing what goodies Astak is coming out with in the near future. |

May I ask how you know? In fact, how did anyone know? I ordered mine direct from Astak on Monday, and got a confirmation of my order, but not anything about shipping or tracking.

I also received a FedEx tracking email. If you don't receive the email, I believe you can contact Robertb via PM and he can find that info for you.

Quite the opposite!
Quote:
If you have it plugged into your PC via USB it will actually charge the battery and should not run it down. Don't let people scare you. Firmware Upgrades take about 3-5 minutes in total and are NOT a big drain anyway on the battery. Unless you are downloading the entire library of congress... you should be able to purchase and load 20 eBooks in far less than an hour. It is almost instantaneous. I once talked a reviewer through how to download a free eBook he wanted in less than 2 minutes. He was amazed! He had no idea! BUT... if you are going to buy eBooks or look for free eBooks wait!!! There is a special website being readied right now and EVERY book on it (1.2 MILLION) are perfect for the Pocket PRO. No worries about format. If you see it on there... you can safely just get it!! |
