If that is all you saw Those are the possible errors. If there had been one, it would show under the appropriate section, waiting for you to figure 'what to do about it' (Just delete is not always what you want to do without taking other actions first. Say you incorrectly placed your only copy of a title into a Calibre controlled folder *bad bad*, you really want to just MOVE it out somewhere else and the Add it in the proper way ). |

I want to know what sort of errors these are. What would cause a book to be under one of these umbrellas. |

I outlined one (many possible repercussions): Messing (changing names-even a tiny bit) around with anything in the Library folder outside of the Calibre program. Dual boot access (Linux and Windows do file names just different enough to farkle things good). I managed to import a Zip file that had a book in 2 formats, a JPEG (cover). Calibre accepted them, then the check pointed out that they did not digest properly) Kerrashes at the wrong time. Bugs DB repair tools are normal , nothing is perfect. That's why there are repair persons (programs) |

I copied a calibre library to a another, using the calibre copy & delete command, they are now all listed as 'Extra titles & Extra authors'.theducks (above) mentioned repair programs. is the some way of adding these titles to the database other than the laborious finding them in the Calibre folder, adding each one and merging it with the calibre entry?

Thank you for your replies, I am using v0.8.7, and cannot see an arrow to the right of the library icon, it is not mentioned in Help, and I have looked in preferences with no joy.The library icon offers some actions, but rebuild is not one of them.
I used the copy and delete command from the right-click menu options. |

"Restore = Rebuild what?
There's a candidate for renaming Restore to me, means to restore a file, folder, database etc from a different location, usually a backup. Rebuild is totally different. |

If it was called "rebuild" someone else would say it didn't pick up the metadata from the books (which was how the database was originally "built"), it picked up metadata from the .opf file (which was created from the original database, not from the books) so it should be called "restore" not "rebuild."
The multiple metadata.opf files (one for each book record) are just a backup in distributed form of the single metadata.db file which has all those book records together in a single file. Last edited by Starson17; 07-01-2011 at 03:16 PM. |
