eReader test book request for Calibre

I've implemented support for eReader files in Calibre (will be in the upcoming 0.6.x series). However, I need a few books to test the footnotes and sidebar extraction.

What I'm looking for is 3 books total. One that has footnotes but no sidebar, one that has a sidebar and no footnotes and one with both.

These files have to be DRM free as Calibre does not support conversion of DRMed books. Can anyone point me to any eReader files that meet these requirements?

I do hope you mean you've implemented conversion from eReader to something else.

That is correct, from eReader to someting is working. However, footnotes and sidebars are currently excluded from the conversion due to lack of testing.

The otherway, something to eReader, I'm planning on completing it in the next week or two.

too bad you cannot do a DRMed eReader into something else as eReader2html produces awful HTML.

I build eReader files regularly for personal use. I have a few with footnotes already. I can put together some small example files with sidebars and footnote/sidebar combos as well. Do you need just the .PDB files, or would you like the source .PML as well?

I won't be able to work on files until I get home this evening.

I have one book that has footnotes. Also on an aside with Makebook or Dropbook you could create your own eBook with footnotes and sidebars.

If you fix this, it would be nice if you could also fix the ereader2html.pl script that does not extract footnotes/sidebars.

In the least you have the two step "ereader2ereader" option.

On an aside, it would be nice if the tool could convert a zip file containing the (PML source and images) to any format.

This will also allow the use of calibre's pluigin architecture to apply a preprocess script on the DRM book.

By any chance, can you export PML as well as the HTML? I'd love to be able to decrypt non-drmed eReader files back to PML for editing.

3 example files, one sidebar, one footnote one both would be great. I should be good without the pml files.

Dropbook doesn't work on Linux. Makebook I hadn't heard of before...

Sadly, I can't make heads or tails of perl code.

I have a function to dump the pml. I will add one to dump the images. I can write a simple wrapper python script to call these on a book.

My mistake, I meant to say ereader2html.py which is a python script.

Will you support the reverse, and create an eBook from the PML?

Thanks, but makebook doesn't supports footnotes or sidebars. It complains that the pml codes for them are invalid control codes.

I won't touch ereader2html because for all intensive purposes it is illegal in the country I reside. You will just have to stick with the 2 step ereader2ereader then convert.

Possibly. Once I finish ereader output I will look into it. Calibre's pluginize structure doesn't currently have a clean way to add this functionality.

Okay I've made a small file that has two footnotes and two sidebars

If you want a special feature let me know I'll add it if possible.

I've added the eReader file and the PML file

It's illegal to distribute, but not use. But I understand.

Thanks that would be very useful.

Thanks, this will help a lot. Can you also generate 2 more files from this, one with the sidebar removed and one with the footnotes removed. One of the issues I'm dealing with is when the file only has one but not both the offset in the header is the same for both. I want to ensure that my check that differentiates between them is successful.

Thanks =X=. I've gotten sidebars and footnotes working.

Is there anyway someone can send me (john@nachtimwald.com) a DRM protected ereader book? I want to see how the metadata is stored in the DRM files so I can get a metadata reading and writing working.

Open an account with fictionwise. They have free DRM books you can download for every format as a way to let you test to see if DRM works for you.
