The Infection by Craig DiLouie is $.99, down from $4.99. From Permuted Press.

Quote:
Five ordinary people must pay the price of survival at the end of the world.

A mysterious virus suddenly strikes down millions. Three days later, its victims awake with a single purpose: spread the Infection. As the world lurches toward the apocalypse, some of the Infected continue to change, transforming into horrific monsters.

In one American city, a small group struggles to survive. Sarge, a tank commander hardened by years of fighting in Afghanistan. Wendy, a cop still fighting for law and order in a lawless land. Ethan, a teacher searching for his lost family. Todd, a high school student who sees second chances in the end of the world. Paul, a minister who wonders why God has forsaken his children. And Anne, their mysterious leader, who holds an almost fanatical hatred for the Infected.

Together, they fight their way to a massive refugee camp where thousands have made a stand. There, what's left of the government will ask them to accept a mission that will determine the survival of them all--a dangerous journey back onto the open road and into the very heart of Infection.

Free from Evil Jester Press: Inheritance by Joe McKinney.

Quote:
Paul Henninger is a rookie cop on San Antonio's troubled East Side, where every night is a war against the gangs and the drug dealers. But Paul has a dark past, and a dark inheritance.

The ghost of Martin Henninger has returned to make sure his son, Paul, delivers on his apocalyptic charge, the result of Martin's black magic, and he’s killing everyone in his path.

With his two worlds colliding, and the body count stacking up, Paul soon finds himself the lead suspect in a series of grisly cult-style killings, and in an emotional standoff between duty, the truth, his wife, and his dead family.

Meanwhile, Keith Anderson, San Antonio's best homicide detective, is hot on Paul's heels. His investigation takes him deep into the secrets of Paul's family. But what he finds there just might kill them both.

DiaboliQ by Billie Sue Mosiman, free from DM Publishing

http://www.amazon.com/DiaboliQ-ebook/dp/B00AD5F87C

Quote:
150 pages of horror and terror from Bram Stoker Nominated Billie Sue Mosiman, author of more than 50 books.

Reviews from each story in DiaboliQ:
ZOM ALIVE: 2110
5 Stars- Lori Safranek-Foreboding and hopeful, Zom Alive 2110 captures the reader, drawing one deeper and deeper into the this alternative existence. Highly recommended for zombie fans and fans of the master storyteller, Billie Sue Mosiman.

PRISON PLANET-
5 Stars- Malina Roos-
Billie Sue Mosiman has created a bleak society bent on ridding North America of the poor, homeless, petty thieves and the like, a society allowed to decay into a dark void of humanity. Told in such a way, the depth of characters and the feel of love shines through on every page. Reminded me of Cormac McCarthy's The Road. Brilliant tale. This is a story that will leave you thinking long afterwards...

QUIET ROOM-
5 Stars-Natalie Guillaumier-owens-This delightful story details a journey into madness and chronicles the fate of a morbid relationship based on control, manipulation, lack of confidence, weakness...and pure evil. The character development here is outstanding, something I am growing to expect from this author.

3AM WITH THE JAGUAR- 5 Stars- Franklin E. Wales- Things always look different at 3AM. Sometimes that's when we find the real us. Written in classic Mosiman, strip an emotional nerve down to where you feel it, styling.

CYBERSHIP-5 Stars- Mallory Anne-Marie Haws-Taut, compact, to the point: a quick, short, compelling read which will linger in the reader's mind. Could it happen? DID it happen? Will it happen-and if so, what will be the consequences for society? "Cyberchip" looks at one person's sense of entitlement, and its consequences, but beyond the immediate, it holds real concerns for the future of our society-and of our humanity.

A collection of short stories and novellas including:
ZOM ALIVE: 2110
QUIET ROOM
CYBERCHIP
3AM WITH THE JAGUAR
PRISON PLANET

Choose the end of your future world in ZOM ALIVE, when a virus infects most of the world's population, driving them mad. They aren't dead, they aren't zombies, but they're just as deadly. Baya escapes her underground city believing her chances on the Outside are better. Can she find a safe place?

Or choose the end of the world in PRISON PLANET, where the poor, disenfranchised, mentally ill, or the weak are imprisoned by a government gone rogue. One family fights back, but where are they going to go, where are they going to hide on Prison Planet?

In CYBERCHIP, the future holds chips to be inserted for tracking people. One of the scientists working on the project inserts one, just to see how well it works, but what he discovers is there are powers beyond imagining in one little cyberchip. It makes his future the most dangerous of all.

In QUIET ROOM and 3AM WITH THE JAGUAR you will meet psychos, stalkers, and murderers. Strong resilient women know what to do with these aberrations. They know exactly what to do.

Come along into the dark, into the DIABOLIQ, and face the horror if you dare...

Free from Greyhart Press: Bridge of Blood by Phillip McComac.

Quote:
Who will be the demon’s next victim?

* The terrorist leader with his network of informers, who has the power to murder or kidnap anyone in Northern Ireland?
* The convent girl who fishes an old relic from the river near the bridge?
* The former Special Investigations Squad sergeant who led an armed mission that went disastrously wrong?
* The missionary priest and exorcist who spreads the word through the jungles of South America, before his weaknesses are discovered and he is sent back to Ireland in disgrace?
* The detective inspector who falls in love with her new sergeant?

After 350 years of imprisonment, the demon, Laldaboth, is free to terrorize Ireland. Who will succumb to demonic possession and who will resist and fight?

Purity of heart is no ward against this demon...
Purity is delicious temptation...
Free from Permuted Press: The Dead by Mark E. Rogers.

Quote:
A terrible judge comes like a thief in the night. While the world sleeps, everything changes. In the diseased light of a festering sun, planes drop from the sky, machines sputter and stop, and the graves of the shrieking damned burst open. Angels from hell clothe themselves in the flesh of corpses to form an unholy army. Dreaming of his father hammering his way out of a coffin, Gary Holland is jolted awake by the phone to learn that his father is dead. Bickering over infidelity and religion, the family gathers for the funeral... and confronts hell on earth at the Jersey Shore. Hounded from cellar to sewer, the staggering, bloodied survivors of the Holland clan are pushed remorselessly to choose between black despair and hopeless faith.

Two free short stories by Douglas Clegg:

Belinda in the Pool

Quote:
From Bram Stoker Award-winning writer Douglas Clegg comes a new short story of suspense and unease -- a tale of psychological disruption.

There is more to Michael's daughter Belinda than meets the eye -- and some of it is absolutely disturbing. Story is just over 5,000 words in length.
The Stain

Quote:
From award-winning novelist Douglas Clegg, comes a short story that begins with the discovery of a strange stain on a t-shirt -- and grows into a threat against a man and his only son. The story is approximately 5600 words in length.

When Jason picks up some souvenirs for his young son, Kyle, he doesn't know that the t-shirt that soon becomes Kyle's favorite brings with it a terrible stain -- of blood.

Or is Kyle being bullied at school? Or is the nanny possibly hurting the boy? Because something caused that stain -- and while Jason and his wife Amy are working hard to generate a wonderful life, something is terribly wrong at home.

Free from small press Crowded Quarantine Publications: The Walls of Madness by Craig Saunders.

Quote:
Bill Hunter sees things other people only imagine; he sees the low beasts and the dark man, too. A man called Marlin. People call him crazy. But sometimes nightmares are real. Sometimes the walls are thin. And sometimes, in the dead of night, that man, that Marlin, comes through...

The Nightmare Chronicles by Douglas Clegg is $.99. Short stories. I have this, and I think it is some of his best work.

Quote:
The Bram Stoker Award-winning and International Horror Guild Award-winning short story collection -- 13 tales of disturbing horror and twisted psychological suspense from master storyteller Douglas Clegg...

It begins in an old tenement with a horrifying crime. It continues after midnight, when a young boy, held captive in a basement, is filled with unearthly visions of fantastic and frightening worlds.

How could his kidnappers know that the ransom would be their own souls?

For, as the hours pass, the boy's nightmares invade his captors like parasites -- and soon, they become real.

Contains the short stories

"Underworld,"
"O Rare and Most Esquisite,"
"The Rendering Man,"
"The Fruit of Her Womb,"
"The Hurting Season,"
"Chosen,"
"The Night Before Alec Got Married,"
"Only Connect,"
"The Little Mermaid,"
"Damned If You Do,"
"The Ripening Sweetness of Late Afternoon,"
Plus the acclaimed novelettes, "White Chapel" and "I Am Infinite, I Contain Multitudes."

This one by Clegg is an old book (if my memory is correct), and a very good selection of his writing.

ADDED: I just bought, since my paperback is in storage.

THANKS!

Yes - it's an old one - 1999 from Leisure. I had the paperback too and replaced it with the ebook.
