Also, with Kindle 2, Amazon would not respond on it's existence until their official press conference (though pictures were of it were leaked), so your comment doesn't really mean anything. |

Interestingly low key launch. I checked the availability of some of the free titles that have been listed here and none of them were free to the UK and many were geographically restricted. Poor show Amazon.

The same is true in the uk, but at this point the market is still small enough that they could overcome the current lead with a sufficiently solid product launch, the obvious issue will be how much geographical restrictions will reduce the total library.

So this is how they solved the problem they had in negociating with national operators : they use the roaming agreements from AT&T and the customer pays the bill. |

In Germany they'll charge 99 Cent per MB for any eBook not bought on Amazon I transfer via Whispernet. Why should anyone use THAT when you can simply transfer them via USB? |

What if Amazon would put out a firmware which would allow you to read DRM epub too? |

The prices for books in are already increased by $2-$4 to include the cost of VAT and transmission I believe with Bestseller Going for $12-$14 insted of the $10 in the US. Its when you leave you registered country that you get a big hit, as you pay an additional $2, which means that you are probably paying it twice over as it is already part of the price when you purchase it from a non US account. |
