2.5 Update social networking features

What do folks think about the Facebook/Twitter/Popular Highlights features?

I think they are pretty exciting and will really separate Kindle from the pack (at least until everyone else does the same). Looking forward to trying it out (where's that darn update...).

It could make for some interesting Kindle book club/reading group possibilities.

My daughter is really excited about this feature. She loves sharing passages and quotes from books.

For me, this may allow me to use it as a sort of substitute for text messaging since I'm one of the only people in the world not to have a cell phone. I had tried using Google Voice through the K2 browser, but I couldn't get it to work. Does anyone have any tips for using the K2 as an SMS device?

I think this is 'send only'. But perhaps there will be an SMS/chat client application for K2 some day via the Kindle SDK and some third party. It's the sort of thing the SDK is for. Probably won't be free however.

I haven't checked, but if google voice works in the browser, that might be an option... (voice.google.com)
