Reading Sony Connect books on other devices

I posted this as a reply to another thread, but no one commented, so will try here instead:

Question: Can't you just activate that slideshow thing on your Reader, throw it in your scanner, set your scanner to scan a page as often as you've set the slideshow to change pages and convert the scanned images to whatever format you want with your OCR software?

Yes, it will take a while, depending on the number of pages in the book and the speed of your scanner, of course, but you only have to do it once per book and then you can forever read that book on any device you want to, right?

Sorry, must'a missed it before.

In theory, yes, you can scan the book, page by page from the Reader, and run OCR on it (some folks have even tried it just to see -- there's a post about it around here ... somewhere), but you'll have to turn the pages manually -- the slideshow is for pictures.

It probably wouldn't be any more trouble than scanning a paper book the same way.

Opening the book on the Connect Software to OCR it should do the trick too ? Sounds easier than using a scanner...
