Is it the white and block models? Or just the white?

What is your opinion comparing kobo and k3? Screen, fonts and
book handling?
People complain a bit that k3 slips from the hand.

Yep. I was looking after deeper insight. Never mind, k3 part could be
found on kindle forum. Compare comes as process of abstraction.

Looking on the Walmart.ca web page, the white one is on sale for $119, the black one is not available, but on sale at Chapters for $128. Seems just like what newegg, etc do with different colors of the same ebook reader.

It may depend on the store. Both colours, at $119, were showing this morning at my Toronto Wal-mart. Wal-mart likes to have the lowest price; no surprise they have a slight edge over Chapters.

@zoran, asking for deeper insight:

• Kobo is, in fact, a little "grippier" than the Kindle 3 which, now the same size as the Kobo, is a tad more slippery (but it still sits nicely in the hand).
• Kobo will save you you money in Canada: $119ish vs US$139 + shipping
• Kobo offers a portal into the world of DRM ePub, lacking on Kindle
• Kobo offers direct access to the public library via Overdrive / ADE, something Kindle doesn't offer at all
• Kobo is eInk 1.0; Kindle 3 is eInk 2.0; both the same screen size and both extremely easy on the eyes with appropriate indoor light or outside
• Kobo offers Times and some vague Helvetica in 5 sizes; Kindle 3 offers Caecilia as the default font in normal and condensed as well as a Helvetic variant in 7 sizes. Kindle 3 offers line-spacing and margin control. Personally, Kindle 3 (and 2) win the font thing hands down. But Kobo's default Times, with user control over size, is readable and flexible enough.

There is a case to be made to have both: Kindle 3 for all the extras and the amazon book shop; Kobo for the simplicity, access to ePub and public library, and the books at kobobooks not otherwise sold at amazon. At these prices, an eReader recovers its cost after about 15 to 20 books; a pair of readers can easily pay for itself in under a year ... so why not consider both?

That was my idea. Aside formats, aim was after sharper screen.
People complain for slippery plastic on the back of k3. I'm not sure
where they take a grip on device. Kobo looks simple, graphically
better and lack of keyboard is not that bad, except none of go-to.
K3 seems to be network bound and manufacturer has complete
control over gadget. They even upgrade firmware that way. Big plus
on kobo side for not living in my house. As far as I read reviews,
screen quality and grip on reader are 2 points to consider. All the
rest is of no value to compare. For people having library in epub,
calibre could be of help.
Thank you for taking time to answer.
