1. download .NET framework 3.5 first
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/e...displaylang=en 2. download PE to .NET ink coverter http://oeo.la/81iix_ You just need to put your pdf and PE convter in the same directory. It automatic reconizes the first pdf to parse. Now you can paste the digital ink to onenote or word. How to change page screen shot Last edited by seagal; 12-29-2010 at 04:24 PM. |

Nice! It works - the ink pastes fine into OneNote and OneNote immediately can search the ink (at least where my writing was legible!). Same with Windows Journal, which converts it to text, too.
I see that merely changing the "Page" in your app copies that page to the clipboard, which makes it a bit easier to paste page after page into OneNote/Journal. Seems like you can only have one PDF in the same directory as the EXE. A File | Open op would be convenient... |

That program is just what I was looking for!!! Now I can integrate the annotations from the Edge with the rest of annotations that I have in Onenote in my tablet. It is perfect!
Thanks a lot It would be nice if we could just select the pdf that we want to convert from within the window. Quote:

This is an area that the Mac world is sorely lacking. I just don't understand why it hasn't been addressed. I think 'Cousin Steve' seems to think we (in the mac world) are ONLY media oriented. He is SO wrong. What happened to the old days?

I have to say I'm quite impress of how good the handwriting search work after converting the pdf... I have a couple of questions and suggestions.
1. Given that you already have the code to convert the pdf into ink wouldn't it be easy to have the option to export to a .one file so it can be opened directly in onenote? 2. It is my understanding that the pdf doesn't have information about the stroke is this right? I'm really surprise that the recognition is so good without this info... Makes you think why is it that Microsoft has refused to implement automatic convert ink in pdfs to onenote's ink. I mean you just showed it is possible and works great. 3. Wouldn't it work even better if you used the stroke information? Perhaps if you used the journal file directly? I think it is pretty much compatible to Xournal http://xournal.sourceforge.net/ I have to say that with this program the Edge has become far more useful. In fact I was even considering getting a HP Slate just for the compatibility with onenote but now there is no need! Last edited by fgruber; 12-30-2010 at 08:36 AM. |

Agreed. Even the iPad isn't really there yet with respect to annotation. In case anyone's interested, following a few links from this page led me to discover "Jarnal" (free program in the Journal/Xournal style) which does have a Mac version. http://www.dklevine.com/general/soft...000/jarnal.htm I have so many notes from my tablet PC days in MS Journal format, only readable on regular PCs with a Journal Note Viewer and not at all readable on my mac. (I don't have Parallels on the MBA, which has much less space than my old Macbook.) I wish I'd had an open version back then so that I could still easily access those notes.

The link to seagal's program has disappeared, sadly. I am seriously thinking of buying, and the ability to import my notes to OneNote would push me over. I was going to ask if there was a way to do this and was so happy to see there was.

Import edge journal strokes into OneNote
Hi there, I'm new to the forum, but nonetheless a devoted Edge user
Since I'm using my Pocket Edge for taking notes anywhere, I needed a way of getting the notes into my desktop (OneNote), so I've written a little program to import the journal notes as strokes. Reading this forum I thought you may be interested in the tool too, so I uploaded it to codeplex: http://esjimporter.codeplex.com/ It's still pretty much in a development stage, but it fulfills at least most of my requirements (selfish me ), so use at your own risk Have fun with your Edge and let me know if you should encounter any issues. |
