Blio, which is free to download, will be available immediately for all Windows-based devices, with applications for iOS and Android operating systems following soon after. In the coming months, Blio will be rolled out worldwide through device manufacturers, retailers, mobile carriers and educational institutions, and supported by fully-customized digital media storefronts. The first of these partnerships will be announced in the next few weeks.

I looked at this site/e-reader this morning. It looks amazing. I imagine students and educational groups will benefit from this technology.

Is it too much to hope that the availability of an Android version will be followed by a general linux one?

It's interesting that they claim 390K books for Kindle - which is a low estimate of what Amazon will sell you, I think - and compare that to 1,000K+ on the Sony, and 1,260K from them. This looks like they're counting access to Google's million books, which is a bit misleading (and you can read most of them on the Kindle if you're that way inclined, in PDF). I wonder how much high quality content they actually have.

I found a beta of Toshiba's bookplace client online which is basically the Blio software re-branded I think.

Seems quite a nice reader, has direct downloading from Feedbooks and a google book search built in.
