Is there any way to convert AZW files from Kindle to readable text on my PC?

You can read them on your PC using the PC Kindle software (free on Amazon's site).

Otherwise if the files are DRM free you can change the extension to .mobi or .prc and read them with anything the reads Mobipocket format or use Calibre to convert them to lot of formats.
