As to the interest level, if it turns out that $45 Kindles are available, it is very noteworthy.
Let's be realistic here for a moment. An eInk screen ALONE costs more than US$45, and that's in bulk wholesale quantities. Given that this $45 price supposedly includes shipping (which is at least $20 from China to the USA), does anybody HONESTLY believe that a Kindle - or, indeed ANY reading device - is going to show up? If you do, I have a bridge that might interest you...

I don't think anyone in this thread that has attempted to purchase one of these "Kindles" expects to receive one. But rather, have weighed the risks of losing $45 against the very slim chance that they might get lucky. Some people are gamblers by nature. I myself don't have $45 to throw away, but I'm not going to assume that everyone is in the same financial situation me. So while I'm a firm believer that this is a scam... I'm not going to assume that the people who have chosen to roll this particular set of dice are naive or stupid -- but rather just employ a different "risk to reward" ratio than I do.

Wow, this has been pretty a pretty entertaining read. I'm all for gambling, but if you have $45 to burn, at least take it to the casino. I'm pretty sure your standard roulette wheel will give you better odds on a return than eBay + Chinese seller.
