There are now 8 fully nominated books listed in post #1 with all nominations listed in post #2.
The below is pending other opinions, as I found it listed under another genre. Is this Thriller/Suspense? I found it listed as Science Fiction, Science Fiction And Fantasy. |

Naked in Death is not a thriller or suspense. It's just a plain old mystery with some romance. It doesn't belong in the list to be nominated. It's as much on topic as Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder is. Both are just murder mysteries. I have read Naked in Death so I know it is not a fit for this month's topic.

Thanks for you comments, Jon. Based on that I've searched some more and I've found Naked in Death by J. D. Robb listed as below:
Romance, Mysteries & Thrillers, Suspense | Thrillers / Adventures | Romance | Mystery, Mystery & Detective, Romance So, I will hold it for now unless there are other objections to it being included in this month's nominations. EDIT: I've put spoiler tags on my previous thoughts and have added.. We are so close to having the 10 fully nominated books, so I will put Thirteen (published as Black Man in Britian) back up with the question about fit for category and the same for Naked in Death. Spoiler:

Science fiction can also be of other genres. I've read a lot of SF that are just mysteries in an alternate world. I'm not 100% positive, but Thirteen does sound like it could be on topic as suspense.

I'll nominate yet another book that's sure to please... Let's have a round of applause for...The Book of Fate by Brad Meltzer. Reading the description may make you want to read it now instead of waiting for it to win.

I would like to nominate Val McDermid's The Distant Echo.
Synopsis: Four in the morning, mid-December, and snow is smothering St Andrews. Student Alex Gilbey and his three best friends are staggering home from a party when they stumble upon the body of a young woman. Rosie Duff has been raped, stabbed and left for dead in the ancient Pictish cemetery. And the only suspects are the four young students stained with her blood. Twenty-five years later, Fife police mount a cold case review. Among the unsolved murders they're examining is that of Rosie Duff. But someone else has their own idea of how justice should be done. One of the original quartet dies in a suspicious house fire. Soon after, a second is killed in what looks like a burglary gone sour. But Alex fears the worst. Someone is taking revenge for Rosie Duff. He has to find out who it is before he becomes the next victim. And it might just save his life if he can uncover who really killed Rosie all those years ago. There's a terrific interview with the author at this link: http://www.valmcdermid.com/pages/interviews6.html which deals specifically with this work. |
