Online screensaver extension

Hello and thank you for this work

I have installed this extension as described but it seems that the screensaver only updates afeter a reboot.

Did i miss something ?

I have a kindle PW3

Have you taken into account that you have a different model, with different firmware and a device using a different resolution screen?

Hmm....
About the only thing the same between a PW-2 and a PW-3 is the name on the case.
Let us know, in detail, what you have already done.

Hi,
i have jailbroken my kindle and updated using this guide :

then i have installed screensavers extension :
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=195474

and copied the content of "online screensaver" archive to extensions dir.

I modified config file :
- changed url of my picture
- changed temp picture location to /mnt/us/temp.png

You should use the most recent screensaver build:

Get your python package from the same place.
The "fix images" option most likely requires it.

Did you change your picture's dimensions to fit the higher resolution screen?

Move your current /mnt/us/temp.png to the screensaver's directory -
Let it go to sleep and make sure the picture works with your Kindle.

If not, try the "fix all images" option of the new screensaver package and try it again by letting it go to sleep.

If it works on the second try, you will need to correct your image generation.

If none of the above helps, tell us the firmware version you are using and if it is a factory or consumer version firmware.

I think i already have the latest linkss since version 0.24N is targeted to kindle PW3.

i have "customer_PW3_5.8.2_update" firmware

do you have a "fix all images" selection on the KUAL sceensaver menu?

If you do - then your copy is recent enough.

If you do not - then get a copy from NiLuJe's snapshot tread.
Note: Those are SNAPSHOTS - their version number will not be updated until they become RELEASES regardless of how new their code is.

See the spoiler'd section: Release Policy in the JB tread.
Do not try to second guess its directions.

Ok, thank you very much, i didn't notice that version "detail".

I have updated Python and linkss and now my image is updated but stretched : i only see the upper left corner. My image is png 1072x1448

Yeah, NiLuJe tricks a lot of people with that "detail".

Ok, then Kual -> SS sub-menu -> check if there is a "fix all images" - -
That will run Image Magick over the images, with options to fit the device it is being run on.

If not there, get the SS package from NiLuJe's snapshot thread.

Yup, that is the most recent one (which should have the 'fix image').

Let us see if we can figure out what happened.

First what tool did you use to decompress and un-archive that?

Now that makes the behavior even more strange.
Unless you are running firmware older than 5.5, you must be running firmware 5.5 or more recent.
OR
You ran the wrong update_*.bin for your device, or didn't install with MrPI, or .....

Although I had the name wrong, it really is there.
And it does not require Python to process all the staged images, see ./bin/linkss.sh for the details.

I think everything is well installed
I dont have a " fix all images" button but a "process sagging images" one
And yes, it was a format image problem.

But for now, i have uninstalled screensaver extension. I will try later again.
