You can rename the files, if you wish -- ConnSoft will still recognize them by the meta-data.

True enough, but you still have to use Connect to know what that meta data is so you can rename the book. If I were to go that route, then I would need to remove all those books from Connect, then add them one at a time renaming them once they appear in Connect. Fairly tedious once you have more than a few books.
One of the things that iTunes does is store songs in a directory structure of artists/album. Very logical. You can change the way it saves songs, of course. That's just the default. Plus, you can change the meta data as you wish. None of this is very difficult to program, of course, which makes Connect all the more disappointing. |

I was fortunate in that I figured it out before I got a bunch of books.
If you do want to do it, do it soon! There is another option -- move the books to another directory, and open them from there through the ConnSoft. That way you'll see the 'actual' file name and when you open it, you'll know what the book is, then you can re-name it via Windows Explorer. It still wouldn't be quick, but it wouldn't be as slow. |

I don't care about any of the other wishes for updates. All I want is a speed update. I just moved 4 MB of txt over and it took about 5 minutes all together. I wish the reader was like a USB flash drive, just dump txt into it. The OS is way too slow.

That's nothing to do with the o/s, but is due to the fact that the Reader has a USB 1.1 interface, not USB 2.
